Sober living is the best living
To stay sober, sometimes you have to change…..everything.

Stones Sober Living Home provides a safe, positive and structured support system in a family environment. Our home is run by a house manager with years of experience with recovery and the 12 Step Program. Residents will appreciate the direction, communication, support and responsibility found while living as a family unit at Stepping Stones. Stepping Stones provides the pathway to successful living after treatment and residency by providing the security of a healthy family life and the self-esteem that naturally follows.

Stepping Stones is a co-ed home that provides a Sober Living Environment (SLE) to those who are truly ready to live their lives drug and alcohol free. We offer a caring, clean, safe and comfortable home in a nice and quiet neighborhood. Stepping Stones is located near downtown Benicia and is within walking distance to at least four AA meeting locations, the public library, shopping, restaurants and public transportation.
Residents are expected to work the 12 Steps of Recovery, with a sponsor. Attend 90 meetings in their first 90 days of residency and at least 3 meetings a week after that. Attend the weekly house meeting, do basic household chores and honor all house rules.

Our Philosophy & Approach
"Family Concept"
The Stepping Stones home operates like a close-knit family, providing emotional support, and encouragement to each other. This supportive, caring attitude helps the recovering person deal with the stresses of everyday living without drugs or alcohol. Each member is expected to fulfill responsibilities that contribute to the family spirit of the house. Giving back and helping others keeps us sober as the 12-Step saying goes, "in order to keep it, you have to give it away". The current residents help the new residents get acquainted and adjust to the house and encourage getting involved with the recovery community outside the house. Stepping Stone House Managers are there to manage the household, monitor the needs of the house and keep the residents accountable and give direction when needed. If the residents violate any of the basic house rules and standards, they may be asked to leave immediately.
"Family House Meetings"
The weekly house meeting is held every Sunday night before the Sunday dinner, usually about 6:30 pm. The purpose of the meeting is to have a consistent time when everyone gets together to "check in" with each other and talk about the
work on their recovery and how they are doing overall. Additionally, household issues and any problems on a house level are addressed. Issues are discussed within the group and feedback is encouraged.
The meeting is not to be considered group therapy or a process group. All residents are expected to attend the weekly meeting unless special circumstances apply and the resident has notified the house manager that they will not be
attending prior to the meeting. The meetings last approximately 15-20 minutes.
